Ministry Plan to 2013 - 'One to one' intentional discipling

Intentional Discipling relationships are established by two people with the specific intent of growing in Christian maturity and/or ministry or ministry skills.

These relationships may take the form of “Spiritual Friendship”, “Mentoring”, or “Spiritual Direction.”

Generally they will include activities of reading the bible together, praying for one another and sharing the activity of God in each other’s lives.

Overall Aim:

Grow lifelong and committed disciples of Jesus who are able to disciple others.

Specific Goals:

  1. All church members understand the worth and purpose of one-to-one discipleship.
  2. Every member of our church encouraged to participate in some form.
  3. All ministry leaders and Home Group leaders committed to a one-to-one intentional discipleship relationship.
  4. Provide resources and training for people in ‘One-to-One’ relationships.

Programs:

  • Introduce the concepts of “Mentoring”, “Spiritual Friendship”, “Spiritual Direction” to all members and continue to promote them through testimonies and stories in the public meetings of our church.
  • A Prayer Triplet is considered a form of ‘Spiritual Friendship’ and such are encouraged.
  • Provide ongoing support and training for those involved in these relationships.
  • Make widely available the book, The Vine and the Trellis.
