Ministry Plan to 2013 - Home groups

Home Groups are smaller groups within our church who meet throughout the week in a variety of places. Gatherings will include regular times of bible study, prayer, fellowship, friendship and intentional outreach.

The leaders of these groups are accountable to our staff and assist the whole group to care pastorally for one another. We believe the ministry of our Home Groups will be the most significant context for growth for our church members.

Overall Aim:

Maximise ‘Growth’ opportunities for all members of our Church, in every part of life. This growth ultimately means lives transformed into Christlikeness. It is both individual and corporate spiritual growth and will result in growing numbers of people being part of our church community.

Specific Goals:

  1. All church members understand the worth and purpose of Home Groups.
  2. Every member of our church to belong to a Home Group. Even people unable to physically attend a Group should be ‘associate’ members of a particular group. This will facilitate pastoral care and a sense of belonging.
  3. 90% of all Church members to be committed and regular at their Home Group
  4. All Home Group Leaders to be effectively trained, encouraged and supported in their role.
  5. For all Home Groups to share a known DNA which marks heart of all our groups, but which allows for diversity of expression.

Programs:

  • Provide regular training opportunities for all leaders, including areas of leadership, small groups dynamics, skills and biblical interpretation.
  • A regular meeting for all Home Group leaders with staff for encouragement, fellowship, discipleship, preparation, and training.
  • Provide coordinated study materials for 2 of 4 terms in the year; along with preparation and training opportunity for leaders with this material.
  • Help each group grow in commitment by adopting it’s own group ‘covenant’ setting out it’s own objectives, operating principles and confidentiality agreement.
  • ‘Stories’ of Home Groups in church regularly through interviews
  • Publicise a profile of each Home Group - to make it easy to ‘join’ and to promote the sense of identity of each group.
