Overall Aim:
To grow disciples of Christ in a welcoming community of young people centered around Jesus. This community should be the context in which young people first become Christians and grow to maturity in their faith.
Specific Goals:
- Each young person to grow in the maturity such that they take personal ownership of their faith. This would be shown publicly in baptisms and confirmations.
- New leadership to grow out of the group as disciples make disciples, producing a diverse family of young people across various ministry groups.
- For children and families to be helped to make transitions between the various ages and stages of ministry.
- All St Marks ministries to be safe places for young people. This will involve embracing the principles and practice of ‘Safe Ministry’.
- Regular reports to all congregations on the progress of this ministry
Programs:
These will always be changing and growing, depending on need and purpose. Presently these include:
- Friday nights (Ark and After D’Ark) as our opportunity to reach out.
- Sunday small groups (Revolution) to build maturity, accountability and community
- Sunday Morning Children’s and Creche ministries, for our younger ones during 10am church.
- Camps (Ark Camp, Katoomba Youth Convention, etc) that challenge crew in an explicit way and build community.
- Leadership training: Katoomba Youth Leadership Conference, Crusaders Leadership Camps or similar.
- Scripture in Schools
- Pittwater Area Schools Worker Christian Association (PASWCA) support.
