who are we?

We are a community of people in relationship with God through Jesus Christ; this is something we want to share with others.

God has done something wonderful for us in Jesus Christ. It's for this reason that we want to help people come to know God's love, and the blessings that flow from living in relationship with Him. We have a heart for all people irrespective of age, gender or background.

We want to connect with our community in meaningful ways in order to introduce others to Jesus. This is really what drives us. That's why we equip our members to stand on the firm foundation of Jesus' teaching, and to live as he calls us to in our world.

We yearn to see the upper Peninsula enriched by our participation in its life-- hopefully we will be known by our living faith, genuine hope and practical love.

We care for one another through our Sunday meetings, through mid-week Home Groups, Prayer Groups, and one-to-one friendships. Our staff help us do this by teaching, training and equipping us to follow Jesus in every aspect of our lives.

What we believe

Here is a quick summary of what we believe :

The divine inspiration of Holy Scripture, its trustworthiness and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and daily living.

The unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.

The universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, rendering man subject to God's wrath and condemnation.

Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death (as our Representative and Substitute) of Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Son of God.

The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective for the individual sinner, granting him/her repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ.

The ongoing indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.

The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ, as judge of all people.

These simple summary points seek to show that our standard of faith is the historical Christian gospel, made clear in the Bible. This has in the past been usefully set out in the Apostles and Nicene Creeds, and in the 39 Articles of Christian Religion . These benchmarks are to be understood within the framework of their own particular historical contexts and use of language and are always subject to the clear meaning and intent of the Bible.

When talking about such important issues as the content of our belief, sometimes we need more details than creedal statements can give. We have found that the best way to bring about this clarity, whenever possible, is talk in person.
